General
guidelines
There are precisely FOUR tasks that are
planned for each student on the way to submitting the mini-project.
Although this will be explained in
detail , here is what we have to do :
{
Definitions :
DOMAIN : The name given to an area of specialisation : Embedded Systems, Control Systems , Robotics, Image Processing etc.
GROUP : consists of all students
belonging to a DOMAIN.
TEAM : consists of 3 students who
select one problem to find a solution in their DOMAIN.
PRIMARY FORCE : A small percentage of
students in a DOMAIN who are interested to study more and bring valuable
knowledge inputs to the GROUP through lectures or otherwise.
}
1.
Each GROUP must select a DOMAIN like : Embedded
Systems, Real Time Systems, Communication Systems, VLSI Design, DSP/DIP, Power
Electronics and then must work towards developing the knowledge resources/pool
within the department.
2.
Each group must select 8-10 students who will act
as the PRIMARY FORCE to push the projects forward in a
purposeful and successful manner. The remaining members in the group will
have other important tasks cut out for them. Everyone must contribute to the
group cause.
3.
Each TEAM consisting of three students must do one
small hardware project every week and prepare a presentation on it for record.
4.
Each GROUP must develop hardware and software
resources and skills by collecting information from companies that develop
related applications.
Industry oriented mini-project must be
a natural outcome of all the above efforts.
The objective is to develop a
self-sustained knowledge seeking intelligent-student group that is able to
appreciate market/technical demands that are placed on product designers.

The LIST of students selecting different domains
(Embedded Systems, Real Time Systems, Communication Systems, Digital Signal or
Digital Image Processing, Very Large Scale Integrated Circuit Design, Power
Electronic Systems) will be created in the next couple of days.
Please see that when you all meet on Monday
(11/7/2016) you begin work on the
following activities :
1. Know all members in your domain.
2. Identify the text books and references related
to your domain and begin preparation.
3. Start your learning of the related software
tools for each domain a follows
Embedded Systems : C Programming
Real Time Systems : Operating
Systems for Real Time applications
Communication Systems : MATLAB using
Communication tool box.
Digital Signal Processing : MATLAB using
Signal Processing Tool Box
Digital Image Processing : MATLAB using
Image Processing Tool Box.
VLSI : VHDL or Verilog
Power Electronic Systems : C
Programming.
4. Start simple experiments using the hardware you
will be requiring for the project work as follows :
Embedded Systems : Sensors, Drivers, 8051
microcontroller.
Communication Systems : ADC/DAC, Filters,
Sampling gates, MUX/DEMUX,
Encoders/Decoders etc.
DSP : Same as for CS.
DIP : Image capture devices - study.
VLSI : XILINX FPGA kit - study
Power Electronic Systems : Circuits using UJTs,
DIACs, TRIACS, SCRs,
Power MOSFETS.
Blog site corresponding to your class will
be uploaded regularly with questions which should help you prepare towards a
common goal for the group.
Please note that this is ONLY a general information
to HELP begin your preparation.
Good Day !
